COMET is Friuli Venezia Giulia Cluster for the Advanced Manufacturing, representing around 3,800 enterprises working mainly for the metal processing and mechanics sector.
Our mission

Our mission is to:

  • Enable and foster cooperation among manufacturing companies;
  • Foster Researchand Innovation in the field of Advanced Manufacturing, promoting best practices and enabling technologies among companies, in order to support and develop the leadership and the competitiveness of the FVGProduction system.
  • Set up a stable community of companies, universities, research actors and associations thus favoring cooperation by promoting R&l projects and initiatives.

Almost 48% of manufacturing companies in FVG directly operate for the mechanics sector, that represents a strategic asset for the whole regional ecosystem.

The cluster organisation is indeed the outcome of a process driven by the Regional Administration in 2015 aimed at creating a network of actors that favor the aggregation of the various regional players active in the field of Researchand Innovation.

Fully “integrated” within the regional R&D Ecosystem, COMET is founding member of the “DIH Pordenone – Advanced Manufacturing Solutions” (the first experiential Digital Innovation Hub developed according to the guidelines of the Italian National Industry 4.0 Plan) and partner of the DIH Udine – Data Analytics & Artificial intelligence”.

Both are coordinated at regional level within the “IP4FVG – Industrial Platform for FVG” (www.ip4fvg.it), the regional initiative for the digital transformation of SME ssupported by FVG,MIUR- Italian Ministry for University and Research and MISE- Italian Ministry for Economic Development.

2016 and 2020, COMEThas coordinated the roadmapping group aiming at identifying the RIS3 development trajectories for the “Factory of the Future”, under mandate of the Regional Administration and by involving all the relevant Quadruple Helix stakeholders (companies, RTOs,University, civil society, ect…) Under mandate of the Regional Administration, COMETrepresents Friuli Venezia Giulia position’ at:

COMET has been participated in the Cluster Management Benchmarking Exercise performed by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA) and was awarded with the EU Cluster Excellence Bronze Label in 2018.
